4 Ingredient Sweet Potatoes

My mom makes the most incredible sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving. I mean, they are one of my top favorite foods period. This recipe is my great grandmother’s and is utterly simple. You may think “wow this doesn’t seem like a lot of stuff to make such an incredible dish” but trust me on this one, it is.

3 lbs sweet potatoes (usually the weight of one bag)
2/3 stick butter
cinnamon
1 12 ounce container REAL maple syrup
foil

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Peel the sweet potatoes and chop into rounds, about 1 inch thick. Place in a dish building a single bottom layer and then including the rest on top.

Sprinkle with cinnamon. You want every sweet potato to be dashed with cinnamon but you don’t want to over do it. I eye ball it.

Pour half the bottle of maple syrup, about 6 ounces, on top of the sweet potatoes. In the picture we doubled the recipe… I really do mean pour half a bottle in ONE dish.

Melt your butter. Pour on top of the sweet potatoes.

Cover the dish with the aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are soft when you poke them with a fork. Next, feast…. and try to share with people.

  1. Thanks for the recipe. Sounds great. I’m tired of eating marshmallows on top. Getting my family to make these for Christmas
